Actlator is a browser-based platform I conceived and built for museums, exhibitions, buildings and cultural environments. It gives each subject its own visual language while keeping the underlying content structured, updateable and easy to access — no app download required.
The platform
Not a template.
A framework.
The same system can become a regional architecture guide, a portrait of one landmark building or a route through a historic wooden town. The interface changes with the story; the principles remain consistent.

A town
as an archive
Created for Nurmes in 2026, the service opens the buildings, courtyards, photographs and memories of the historic wooden town through a map and a growing collection of stories.

From a book
to a living map
The printed architecture guide became a parallel digital publication: searchable, map-based and capable of expanding beyond the limits of a book.

One building,
many layers
A deep digital portrait of Joensuu City Hall brings an out-of-print publication into a mobile-first form. Its history, architectural details and changing life can be explored as one coherent story.
A reusable cultural layer
The content leads.
The platform adapts.
Actlator can support a place-based route, a single building, an exhibition or an individual artwork. The Olli Martikainen exhibition at Pielinen Museum is one example of the same platform taking on the colours, typography and atmosphere of its subject.
What the project connects
Actlator brings together the threads of my practice: research, writing, visual identity, interface design and the interpretation of places.
